Saying Goodbye.
November 16, 2008Today marks the end of this year’s Sunday School.
Today marks the end of my service in Sunday School.
The experience was great. I finally understood why teachers just can’t give up teaching. You learn way more in teaching rather than being a student, not only on what you teach, but on how students learn, pick up things, react to certain activities, work together. I discovered that children learn things differently through the different activities being poured out to them. How they do things depicts their personality and character indirectly, it’s so interesting just to study them.
But today is a goodbye to me for it’s my last time working in Sunday school (maybe). Not exactly goodbyes for the children, because I’ll be seeing them next year, handing out to them their “to Yourself” letters, but I won’t be teaching, just preparing for the year ahead full of racoon eyes and zombie walks.

God is truly great and amazing. He didn’t call me to teach Sunday School. He just said, “Serve”. It was my decision to make to teach in a place that I vow to myself never to come back again. Well I did. Things had to change. I remember moaning and groaning every Sunday morning, dreading to see the boring teacher’s face, barely keeping me eyelids up, and that teacher happens to be my step aunt.
JENG JENG JENG.
Then when I grew up and got involved in the CF, my views had totally change about how I see and perceive things. I made a decision to change and influence people. Simple theory, if I think the whole Sunday School system needs to change, then I be the change first. But I’m really glad that the class had a really enjoyable year compared to my time. They did loads of group work, working with all sorts of materials due to the fact that I keep loads of leftover scrapes of colour papers in my room, they get to play with playdoh. We got them to get involve with out-of-the-box ideas. So in that case, break free from the routine lifestyles of boring textbooks and doctrines, experiencing and learning things differently.
The class party was great! Quiet and reserve people opened up and had loads of fun. They really enjoyed themselves.

Goodies for the children:

I wonder what other forms of community service will I get involve in next year. I’ve been bugging my dad to join the DAP for quite sometime. So we’ll see where that leads. In the meantime, I’m just cherishing this day’s joy.
